What is Anaplastology?

The term anaplastology describes
the art and science of restoring a malformed or absent part of the
human body through an artificial
means known as prosthetics.

An Anaplastologist is the member
of the interdisciplinary health care
team who provides custom prosthetic
treatment to patients with facial or
body differences resulting from
disease, trauma, or birth anomalies. Anaplastology requires the professional to have clinical training as well as education in art, anatomy, and material science.

Anaplastologists provide prosthetic therapy for patients who require
facial or somato prostheses. An anaplastologist or other prosthetics specialist may be just one of the many specialist “team members” a patient will see as part of a physician directed treatment plan.
